For Merchants, The Future Of Payments Is Everywhere
As e-commerce continues to grow, there’s one thing that’s clear for brick-and-mortar retailers: consumers are no longer obligated to venture out to physical stores every time they want something.
They still do, of course, the vast majority of the time—e-commerce still only accounts for less than 10% of total retail sales, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. But today’s customers are no longer constrained to that old paradigm.
Yet even as online giants like Amazon continue to grow, there’s no reason for retailers to panic. It’s clear that retailers who adapt and move into the future have a chance to thrive in today’s retail environment, by embracing new technology like mobility in payments.
