LP/Security: ASIS Enables Cross-Industry Collaboration
Leading retail LP/security execs are on deck to share insight on the value of networking with security pros in other industries, the next big ideas in retail, and their membership on the ASIS Retail Loss Prevention Council.

The curtain falling on last week’s NRF LP Show in San Diego may have marked the end of the spring retail loss prevention conference season, but you don’t have to wait another full year to get your security tradeshow fix. If you’ve never been to an ASIS International event, mark your calendar for September 24-27, 2013 and make arrangements to get to McCormick Place in Chicago. This show is one that every serious security professional needs to attend, at least occasionally.
I’ve talked to a lot of retail LP professionals—both vendors and retailers—who don’t regularly attend the ASIS International event. They say it’s too big and too broad. They prefer the intimacy and focus they experience at the RILA Asset Protection Conference (April) and the NRF LP Show.
I can understand that, and it’s true, ASIS is big. It’s really big. There are plenty of solutions providers exhibiting there with whom you, the retail LP pro, might never find yourself in a purchasing conversation. Bomb-sniffing dog breeders and teargas manufacturers, for instance.
