Despite efforts to improve on-shelf availability, retailers are still plagued by an out-of-stock issue that, in some segments, reaches double-digit percentages in lost retail sales. As the annual Global Retail Theft Barometer from the Centre For Retail Research annually indicates, shrink is a leading culprit. Last year’s Barometer found that shrink accounted for nearly $43 B in lost retail sales in North America alone and more than $107B globally.
