Agilence Unveils Hawkeye 4.0: Retail's Most Powerful POS Auditing Solution

Agilence, Inc., the leader in point-of-sale video auditing solutions, recently announced the release of Hawkeye 4.0 – the latest version of the company's cutting edge retail loss prevention software suite. Hawkeye helps retailers quickly identify sales-reducing activities caused by operational and systemic issues, poor promotion execution, supply chain inefficiencies and associate fraud. Highlights from Hawkeye 4.0 include Automatic Sweetheart Detection (ASD) and the addition of Human On Transaction (HOT) technology.

Agilence's patented item-level synchronization software pulls data directly from the point-of-sale system and marries the data with video in real-time. The data for each individual item scan and key punch is perfectly linked to its associated video image. The synchronized data and video is instantly available through Hawkeye's advanced query interface, enabling analysts to quickly and efficiently identify the hidden losses that cost retailers billions each year.

Using Automatic Sweetheart Detection (ASD), retailers can configure Hawkeye to run advanced queries to detect sweethearting activities – one of the most common types of employee theft that stems from unauthorized discounting of merchandise. Retailers can customize searches for these activities in common areas such as the bagging station or at self-checkout terminals. By using Human On Transaction (HOT) technology, Agilence's software can also detect whether a customer is present during a transaction. These technologies help retailers identify valid non-scans while also pinpointing activities such as associate refund fraud and incorrect voids.

"Since deploying Agilence's software over a year ago, the solution has enabled us to see the margin-robbing activities that were once unknown to us, and has provided a way to track and measure the effectiveness of the correction," said Richard Draeger, VP of Operations, Draegers Markets. "Agilence's auditing process has given us a clearer, more understandable way of correcting problems in the supply chain which ultimately created margin gap at the POS."

The new features in Hawkeye 4.0 are designed to give retailers, who already operate on tight margins, a more powerful tool to find and prioritize transactions that lead to retail losses that approached $115 billion in 2009 according to the Global Retail Theft Barometer.

"In addition to the advanced query features and the analytic components, we've also designed Hawkeye to efficiently use networking resources and leverage existing infrastructure– a true pain point for retailers who are attempting to reduce the number of servers in their stores," states Derek Rodner, VP of Product Strategy for Agilence.

The Agilence solution benefits retailers looking to reduce capital and operational expenditures as well as minimize energy costs. Hawkeye is now certified by Agilence to run in a virtualized container on VMware for retailers who are consolidating their in-store applications onto a single machine. In addition, the new release enables retailers to run in a grid-like environment taking advantage of unused processor time across all the servers in the store. The advanced analytics for automated sweetheart detection and human on transaction can be federated across the existing, in-store, computing resources, essentially creating a "cloud within the store."

Agilence will be demonstrating Hawkeye 4.0 live at the upcoming National Retail Federation Loss Prevention Conference in Atlanta, GA from June 14-16, 2010. Agilence will be in booth 109.
