Chico's FAS, Inc. Completes Rapid Implementation Of JDA's Allocation And Workforce Management Solutions

JDA Software Group, Inc., The Supply Chain Company, announced recently that Chico's FAS, Inc., a women's specialty retailer of private-branded, sophisticated, casual-to-dressy apparel, intimates and accessories, is live with JDA Allocation and JDA Workforce Management across its three retail chains that include Chico's, White House|Black Market and Soma Intimates.

The $1.7B retailer, which operates more than 1,080 boutiques throughout the United States and direct-to-consumer channels, leveraged JDA Strategic Services to install JDA Allocation at all three brands in less than six months. The first major Chico's FAS brand went live with the industry-leading Allocation solution within four months. JDA Workforce Management was rolled out to all Chico's FAS stores in an unprecedented seven months.

"Speed to value was critical to our decision to undergo a rapid deployment of the JDA solutions," said Jeff Jones, chief operating officer, Chico's FAS. "We knew that from a functionality standpoint, JDA Allocation is one of the most robust solutions in the marketplace. JDA Allocation has helped us quickly and effectively optimize store-specific allocations across our entire retail enterprise. Already, we've realized an improvement in inventory turns and reduced stock-outs. With JDA Workforce Management, our stores went from a manual scheduling process to one that's now automated, enabling us to improve scheduling and service for our customers."

Jones added, "We relied heavily on the expertise and best-practice processes that the JDA Strategic Services team brought to the project. As a result, we completed our aggressive implementation on time and on budget, as well as enhanced our overall business processes while managing to maintain the individuality of the three brands." The JDA Allocation and JDA Workforce Management implementations mark the first milestone in the retailer's multi-phased plan to replace its former systems with several best-of-breed JDA solutions that will help drive enhanced merchandise planning, demand forecasting, replenishment and inventory management throughout its enterprise.

"Speed to value is a primary consideration for all companies in this dynamic market. The experience and expertise of the JDA Services team combined with Chico's openness to work in progressive and more collaborative ways enabled us both to achieve industry leading results within a matter of months instead of the year or more it would typically take a project of this size," said Chris Moore, JDA's executive vice president, services. "We look forward to partnering with Chico's FAS on its future JDA implementations."

Wayne Usie, JDA's senior vice president, retail, commented, "In order to compete effectively in today's dynamic retail landscape and positively impact sales and margins, businesses must provide their consumers with the desired merchandise. This requires flawless planning and execution, and winning retailers like Chico's FAS are achieving their objectives by bringing together the best people, processes and technologies. Leveraging JDA Allocation and JDA Workforce Management will enable Chico's FAS to improve product positioning, performance and layout to make every square foot of selling space as profitable as possible, as well as help ensure that the right associate is available at the right time to deliver superior service. JDA looks forward to helping Chico's FAS take its business to the next level."

Representatives from Chico's FAS will present at FOCUS 2010, JDA's annual global user conference, May 16-19 at the Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.
