Data storage is an important and expensive component of today's networked video surveillance systems. Because the amount of storage needed for data-heavy digital video files can be substantial, it is important for integrators to make smart technology choices. Traditionally a function of digital video recorders (DVRs) and network video recorders (NVRs), storage has now evolved into a separate system component, in line with best practices of the IT industry.
