While LP drives the bulk of ROI on surveillance, there are many benefactors of the LP/IT partnership forged by IP video implementation.
The power of the collaboration between retail loss prevention and information technology departments is not lost on veteran LP solutions salesman Jeff Powers, senior director of sales for Verint Software. When I recently caught up with Powers, he was eager to discuss the business applications that are borne of collaborative IT, LP, and C-level ingenuity.
How would you characterize the collaboration you’re seeing among retail LP and IT professionals?
Powers: We’re beginning to see some interesting partnerships between LP and IT that never existed before. Traditionally, LP has simply provided a service that’s been necessary, but not necessarily compelling to C-level executives. Cross some of the new network-level, standardized LP solutions with the IT department, however, and it gets very interesting and compelling. The partnership between asset protection and IT professionals nets retailers the ability to standardize solutions and export them to the business.
