Donatos Pizzeria Cooks Up New POS Solution With Wincor Nixdorf's BEETLE /iPOS Hardware
Wincor Nixdorf, Inc., the global leader in open system solutions for the retail and banking industries, today announced that Donatos Pizzeria has selected the BEETLE /iPOS as its point-of-sale (POS) solution.
BEETLE /iPOS systems have been installed at three Donatos Pizzeria restaurants in Munich, Germany, in the restaurant chain's first international locations. In addition, Donatos has implemented the BEETLE /iPOS in two U.S. locations, with plans to begin retrofitting the BEETLE /iPOS at additional existing stores and new locations in 2004.
Donatos Pizzeria chose Wincor Nixdorf after an extensive review of POS hardware from the industry's leading vendors. A key factor in Donatos' decision was Wincor's ability to modify the BIOS of the BEETLE /iPOS in order to allow a user to restore a base image on boot up through the touch interface, without using a keyboard. This reduces the amount of time that is necessary on help desk calls and simplifies troubleshooting. Wincor Nixdorf was the only hardware vendor that was able to provide this feature.
The BEETLE /iPOS configuration selected by Donatos is powered by an Intel Pentium III processor running at 1.2GHz, with a 15" capacitive touch screen. In addition to hardware, Wincor Nixdorf will provide services that include Advance Exchange support for overnight replacement of BEETLE /iPOS systems that require service.
