Four Major Industry Organizations Join Together To Present Prestigious Awards

Retail Systems Alert Group, organizers of the annual Retail Systems® Conference & Exposition, announced the launch of the S.T.A.R. (Systems & Technology Achievements in Retail) Awards that will be presented in a private ceremony on May 25, 2005. The Awards are part of Retail Systems 2005, which will be held May 24-26, 2005 at McCormick Place, Chicago.

The S.T.A.R. Awards, sponsored by Viacore, bring together two prestigious industry award programs - The Retail Systems Achievement Awards and the WWDEXECTECH 2005 CIO Awards. These annual awards pay tribute to the extraordinary achievements of both successful organizations and individuals within the retail industry. The first annual S.T.A.R. Awards will bring together top retail executives and industry leaders from around the globe for a single evening of celebration and recognition.

"Combining both awards programs provides a comprehensiveness not seen in any other program," said Eric Olson, VP of Products and Services, Retail Systems Alert Group. "At the S.T.A.R. Awards, we will honor both individuals and companies in an atmosphere of camaraderie. This unique evening will truly be THE awards event of the year."

"We are very pleased to join forces with Retail Systems Alert Group for the first time to present the annual 2005 WWDExecTech awards in this joint setting," said WWD Editor James Fallon.

The Retail Systems Achievement Awards, presented by Retail Systems Alert Group and Chain Store Age, honor outstanding examples of systems and innovative applications that have resulted in more effective customer service and improved business processes. These awards recognize individuals and companies whose efforts and company-wide dedication to information technology and effective business processes have raised standards throughout the industry. Award categories include:

  • Best in Customer Touchpoint Systems
  • Best in Corporate Systems
  • Best in Multi-channel Innovation
  • Best in IT/Business Alignment
The WWDEXECTECH 2005 CIO Awards, presented by Women's Wear Daily and RILA, recognize exceptional individuals whose innate creativity, drive for results and technology/process know-how distinguish them among their peers. This year, WWDExecTech will honor five winners whose outstanding contributions and influence stretch past the boundaries of their companies and into the industry at large. The composition of this year's winners is truly diverse and illustrates that the most inspiring technology leadership talent need not come only from the biggest companies in retail. WWDExecTech is proud to honor this eclectic group of executives from various sectors including department store and specialty retailing and food.

The S.T.A.R. Awards are part of Retail Systems 2005, featuring the VICS/Retail Systems Super Conference. This year's event offers three days of educational and networking opportunities for all professionals in the extended retail industry, including retailers, manufacturers, distributors, IT vendors, 3PLs and warehousing. This is the only event of the year that brings together all segments of the retail, CPG, and apparel industries to discuss internal and external IT and business process issues.
