Paperless coupon program – powered by Inmar – now live in 247 DeCA commissaries worldwide

Winston-Salem, NC ⎯ Inmar, a technology company that operates intelligent commerce networks, today announced that the Defense Commissary (DeCA) has joined the Inmar Promotion Network with the launch of its “Commissary Rewards Card” program. The Commissary Rewards initiative is a load-to-card promotions program that allows customers to access and redeem digital coupons at all DeCA stores.

DeCA is just the latest retailer to deploy Inmar’s real-time relationship platform and join the Inmar Promotion Network, which is now approaching 14,000 retail rooftops. With 247 stores located in   13 countries worldwide, DeCA, according to Progressive Grocer's Super 50 rankings for 2012, is the 18th largest grocery store chain in the U.S.

Shoppers are given the Rewards Cards in-store, which they then register at the Commissary website. Once the cards are registered, shoppers can select available offers from the website and load them directly to their Rewards cards. The coupons are redeemed automatically at Point-of-Sale with purchase of the appropriate product(s) and presentation of the card to the cashier.

“We are very excited about this new initiative,” said DeCA Director and CEO Joseph H. Jeu. “These cards will allow our customers to maximize their commissary benefit by using technology to save time, effort and money.”

DeCA is headquartered at Fort Lee, Virginia, and operates a worldwide chain of commissaries providing groceries to military personnel, retirees and their families. A core military family support element, and a valued part of military pay and benefits, commissaries enhance the quality of life for America's military and their families, and help recruit and retain men and women to serve their country.

The initial response by commissary shoppers to the Rewards Cards program has been very positive. Since testing of the initiative began in August, 61 percent of the cards distributed to store visitors have been registered. In the first month of testing alone, the DeCA website, www.commissaries.com saw a 78 percent increase in unique visitors.

“All of us at Inmar are delighted to be enabling the DeCA ‘Commissary Rewards Card’ program,” said David Mounts, Inmar CEO. “Not only because we are assisting an important client to build business through the effective execution of digital promotions, but also because we are helping – if but indirectly -- those who have served, and are serving, our country.”

Future enhancements planned for the Rewards Card program will allow DeCA’s industry partners to target savings based on the customer’s specific usage, alert patrons to available sales promotions at their local stores and reward consistent shoppers with specific incentives.
