iQmetrix, the leading provider of retail management software for the North American wireless industry, recently released statistics on consumers mobile phone purchasing trends over a 24-hour period on Black Friday, November 25, 2011. iQmetrix sampled data from over 6,000 wireless retailers, reporting 40.4 percent of total phones sold were Android phones, up from 36.7 percent in 2010, exceeding iPhone sales by .2 percent within the independent wireless market. Dealers reported that total revenues per transaction were up 14.7 percent from 2010 sales figures, while the number of phones sold year over year remained fairly consistent at 24.4 percent of total items sold on Black Friday 2011 (versus 26.2 percent on Black Friday 2010.) These numbers indicate that retailers have sold the same amount of accessories year over year, however, with a 14.7 percent increase in revenue per transaction, consumers are purchasing more expensive phones. iQmetrix collected data from its RQ4 Wireless Retail management software that is currently used by independent wireless retailers across North America, providing a unique look into mobile phone purchasing trends during one of the most important shopping days in the United States.
