Case Study: K&G Fashion Superstores Finds Fashion-Friendly Electronic Article Surveillance
By D. Douglas Graham
America's great recession has sent retail sales south, and shrinkage in the opposite direction. According to the most recent statistics released by the National Retail Federation's (NRF) National Retail Security Survey, shrinkage attributable to shoplifting, employee and supplier ripoff, and paperwork error averaged 1.52% of sales in 2008, versus 1.44% in 2007. That translated to a 2008 total of $36.5B , a spike of nearly two billion bucks over the shrinkage figure estimated for the previous year.
