Kohl's Department Stores To Open At 8 p.m. On Thanksgiving Day

In-store to online, mobile to multi-media, Kohl’s announces exciting plans for the holiday season

Kohl’s Department Stores recently announced it will open its doors at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, kicking off its Black Friday event earlier than ever. Stores will be open for 28 hours straight – from 8 p.m. Thursday, November 28 through midnight Friday nationwide.

“Shopping over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend has become a much-anticipated tradition enjoyed with friends and family,” said Michelle Gass, Kohl’s chief customer officer. “As many customers are eager to get a jumpstart on their shopping, we are opening our stores at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day as a convenience to our customers who want to make Kohl’s their first stop.”

In addition to opening at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Kohl’s will delight and inspire more than ever this holiday season in fun, fresh and exciting ways with new tools, additional online conveniences and a wide assortment of hot, name brands.

Dream Gifts and New Brands: This holiday, Kohl’s is featuring an exciting assortment of name-brand electronics, a deep selection of top toy brands, including Barbie, Fisher-Price, LeapFrog, Mattel, Playskool and VTech, as well as an extensive list of designer fragrances for him and her, such Burberry, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, Justin Bieber, Lacoste and Taylor Swift. Additionally, more than 250 Kohl’s stores nationwide and Kohls.com now offer a newly expanded assortment of popular national beauty brands, including LORAC Cosmetics, Inc., Pür Minerals Cosmetics, CARGO Cosmetics, theBalm and H20 Plus. 

High-Impact Broadcast Integrations: Kohl’s is the exclusive retail partner for The Voice and the American Music Awards this holiday. Both partnerships include innovative integrations that merge traditional media with social and digital media.

Kohl’s “Dream Receipt” Program: Over 30,000 Kohl’s customers will win their entire purchase for free this holiday season! Kohl’s, through its popular Dream Receipt program, is picking up the tab for one winner every day in every store and Kohls.com, starting on Thanksgiving Day through December 24.*

Kohl’s Virtual Snapshots with Santa: Starting in November, shoppers can skip the long lines to visit Santa at the mall by taking a photo at Kohl’s Snapshots with Santa in-store photo opportunity in Kohl’s stores nationwide. Customers can snap their picture against a green screen display, select a unique holiday background with Santa and share via email and social media using the Kohl’s Snapshots with Santa app (available at Kohls.com/MyPhoto, beginning early November). Additionally, customers can turn their photos into holiday cards, receiving $20 off a qualifying order of greeting cards on Shutterfly.**

Kohl’s Mobile Wallet: New this year, just in time for the holidays, Kohl’s iPhone app will feature a new savings wallet, giving shoppers the ability to track Kohl’s Cash right on their phone.

Social Surprises and Sales: In addition to exciting social media integrations with Kohl’s broadcast and online video spots, Kohl’s Facebook fans (facebook.com/Kohls), more than 10 million strong, will have exclusive access to savings opportunities, such as surprise sales – short-timed sales at incredible prices – as well as flash sample giveaways.
