MOBILE GROWING AS A PREFERRED CHANNEL FOR E-COMMERCE
Half of online shoppers who own a smartphone and 60% of those who own a tablet make purchases on these devices within a typical three-month period according to study results. Online shoppers are heavy users of social media channels as well – with Facebook being the most popular, used by 77% of online shoppers.
Seven percent of the shoppers surveyed are the e-commerce equivalent of “cord cutters” – all of their digital purchases occur via mobile devices.
SHOPPERS ARE LISTENING
Online shoppers want to hear from retailers via mobile and social channels. Study results reveal that 47% want a coupon or promotion on their smartphone when a retailer knows they are in-store or nearby. Eighty six percent of consumers who use Facebook pay attention to retailer updates, with 34% of those saying they pay a lot of attention to these updates.
