The recent U.S. Commerce Department's retail and food services sales tally shows that retail sales were up 6.4% from March 2009. While analysts are cautious about predicting an upswing in the economy, they do believe that lower unemployment rates and home price declines showing signs of leveling off could spur retail spending. As consumers begin to loosen their purse strings, retailers will be there to reap the rewards. One way to do that is by implementing an e-commerce strategy that extends beyond sales to streamlining ordering processes and increasing sales.
