Loss Prevention: ADT Introduces New Tool For Retailers To Gather Loss Prevention And Operational Data More Accurately And Quickly
ADT Security Services, a part of Tyco International, recently announced the introduction of a Local Device Manager for its Sensormatic SmartEAS anti-theft solutions allowing retailers to collect loss prevention and operational data more quickly and accurately and provide them with a better understanding of their business. The data gives the end-users the information to make changes and adjustments that can limit losses, improve efficiencies and increase store profitability.
The Sensormatic SmartEAS Local Device Manager is a connectivity platform that serves as the data collection point for loss prevention alarm management, anti-theft remote diagnostics and people counting devices. It allows retailers to keep track of loss prevention deactivation counts, the number of customers entering the store, the number of anti-theft alarms, as well as giving them the ability to remotely diagnose and correct issues with the anti-theft system.
Once retailers have a better understanding of loss prevention and related operational issues they can act to make changes which can help them run their stores more efficiently, according to Jeffrey Bean, vice president, ADT Retail Sales and Operations.
"The data collected by the Local Device Manager can be tailored to fit the specific needs of the retailers," he said. "Store management can use the data to identify trends, store challenges and potential theft issues."
Local Device Manager is compatible with Sensormatic SmartEAS Solutions, offered by ADT, which is an integrated family of products providing efficient and effective loss prevention management for retailers with stores in multiple locations. The device manager in combination with SmartEAS Solutions allows end users to put together standardized or customized reports on loss prevention and other store activities providing a clearer picture of loss prevention and operational activities. These reports can be accessed on a secure Web site from any Internet connection using an encrypted password and come in a variety of formats including PDF, Excel spreadsheets and graphs, tables or charts.
The new device manager offers a number of advantages and benefits for retailers including:
- Support of up to 31 devices including Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS), people counting and other store data collection systems.
- The ability to expand and support both basic devices as well as future analytic and business intelligence devices.
- Integration with other ADT in-store data capturing devices including anti-theft label detection systems, deactivators, people counting and alarm management.
- Support of remote diagnostics and services to keep the system operating at maximum effectiveness.
- A timer that allows retailers to program specific hours of operation which saves on system resources and lowers costs.
"Local Device Manager gives retailers the tools to collect more information and get a better understanding of their business and its day-to-day operations," said Bean. "This is information that can be useful for loss prevention, operations, marketing departments and management teams."
