An Integrated Solutions For Retailers podcast with editor Bob Johns

Bob: Hello everyone and welcome to an Integrated Solutions For Retailers magazine and RetailSolutionsOnline.com podcast with Axis Communications. I’m Bob Johns, editor with the magazine and website, and I will be your host for today’s podcast. Joining me are Hedgie Bartol and Jackie Anderson, business development managers of retail at Axis. We will be discussing LP cameras and technology in the retail space.

Well, let’s get started right away. Hedgie and Jackie, many retailers have analog systems with DVRs that are beginning to fail. If a retailer is completely analog, what is the procedure for migrating to digital, and do they have to replace all of these analog cameras right away?

Hedgie: You know, this is one of my favorite topics. The key to this is to recognize that, at the end of the day, the DVR is just software storage and encoding in a box. So, when your DVRs begin to fail, or a store is scheduled for a refresh but not a full remodel, don't replace archaic technology with archaic technology. Unbundle that DVR.
