LPC Certified Professionals Announced

This inaugural class of loss prevention professionals demonstrates commitment to education

We are proud to announce the first group of LPCertified (LPC) loss prevention professionals. These candidates have successfully completed the course and passed the LPC Exam, thus meeting all of the requirements set forth by The Loss Prevention Foundation Board of Directors, Knapp & Associates International and the LPC Exam Committee. Individuals in this group have the distinct honor of being the first ever to receive this certification in the retail loss prevention industry.

The LPC is a certification course designed as advanced education for retail loss prevention management and executives hoping to further their career in the loss prevention field. The LPC was designed with the input from 300 plus professionals from more than 130 of today's leading retail and solution provider companies. To earn this certification, these professionals had to pass the LPC proctored exam comprised of 200 multiple choice questions. The exam was developed from over 1200 pages of course content by the exam committee under the direction of Knapp & Associates, International.

"Our industry has been lacking in convenient and industry specific educational opportunities for the loss prevention professional. These individuals have taken a very important step to enhance their careers with this academically excepted certification course. They have stepped forward into the future of Loss Prevention, which is to be a critical partner with all the business functions that drive profitability and compliance in the industry. Furthermore, they have demonstrated their true leadership in helping to create a new educational standard", stated Frank Johns, Chairman of the Board of The Loss Prevention Foundation.

"In today's environment, it is very unusual to find a true profession that does not have its own industry specific certification. The LPC certification course was designed as a means to validate the knowledge level of LP professionals in specific core competencies. The LPC is not only a great tool for hiring, but also a great way for professionals to demonstrate their commitment to learning and advancing this profession", said Gene Smith, President of The Loss Prevention Foundation.

"This announcement is the celebratory symbol for the dedication of hundreds of loss prevention professionals from over a hundred companies, who have given so much of their time. These are the people who truly deserve the credit for making this certification a reality", said David Lund, Vice President Loss Prevention, Dicks Sporting Goods and recently LPC certified.

Once again, we want to congratulate this group of loss prevention professionals for their achievement and their commitment to a higher standard of professionalism through certification.
