Vendor Insight: Making The Move To Next Gen Wireless

Source: Innovative Retail Technologies

By Will Botten, Direct Source

The ratification of the 802.11n wireless networking standard offers retailers opportunities to reduce costs, improve productivity, and capitalize on mobility conveniences. An improvement made possible through 802.11n is its ability to provide range throughput and speed increases over legacy 802.11a/b/g equipment.

As wireless technology continues improving in critical areas, such as network security and access control, organizations are beginning to place more applications on the wireless network. Moreover, 802.11n promises to deliver many attributes to address wireless issues, including the increase in users; proliferation of client devices; convergence of voice, data, and video on the wireless LAN; and the trend towards deploying wireless in challenging environments.
