New Software Upgrades Available For Conlux CCM-5 Coin Changers To Accept New Canadian $1 And $2 Coins
MEI Conlux will be releasing software upgrades allowing acceptance and validation of the new Canadian $1 and $2 coins entering circulation in early 2012.
Conlux CCM-5 coin changers (2003 and newer) were designed with embedded technology to allow software updates to accommodate new coin designs. This product can be upgraded in the field or at any Authorized Service Center for a nominal fee via the Conlux Programming Module.
According to the Canadian Royal Mint, the new coins will be produced from alloys that have similar, but not identical, composition to the current 5¢, 10¢ and 25¢ coins in circulation. Due to the slight change in alloy, all coin-accepting devices in Canada will require software modifications to enable $1 and $2 coin acceptance.
