Office Depot Completes JDA Point-Of-Sale Deployment To More Than 5,000 Retail Terminals In over 1,110 Stores In The US

Global provider of office supplies and services replaces legacy POS system to improve the speed and efficiency of its everyday retail transactions

JDA-Software Group, Inc., The Supply Chain Company, recently announced that Office Depot, a leading global provider of office supplies and services, has completed its phased deployment of JDA Point-of-Sale (POS) to more than 5,000 retail terminals in over 1,100 stores in the US.

The JDA POS solution helps stores to effortlessly carry out corporate strategies with a powerful pricing engine, enterprise-wide visibility into inventory levels, and the ability to access customer information and multi-channel orders, enabling retailers to drive sales with fast, accurate store-level service.

"The total cost of ownership for our existing point-of-sale environment was too high and the ability to respond to new business opportunities was very constrained," said Keith Paulus, director of store systems, Office Depot. "Through the new JDA solution, Office Depot now has the capability to quickly implement promotional price execution, customizable transaction flows and more without the need for extensive involvement from an external resource."

Throughout 2010, Office Depot conducted several POS rollout waves, with the remaining US stores following in a matter of three months in the spring of 2011. Office Depot's stores are already beginning to see the benefit of the JDA POS solution in the form of:

  • Enhanced usability and reduced training time due to the solution's intuitive user interface and streamlined process flows
  • Lower total cost of ownership and increased environmental security
  • Greater flexibility to quickly address business trends through extensions and customizations of JDA POS without requiring JDA's involvement
  • Enhanced visibility to business events and ability to react with real-time exchanges of information between the stores and head office
