PeopleAnswers Awarded Patent For Performance-Based Employee Selection And Candidate Sourcing Methods

PeopleAnswers announced recently that it has just been issued a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) protecting two important company technologies:

  • for selecting potential hires by assessing candidates against an ideal profile developed from both behavioral data of employees already in the position, plus their corresponding performance data; and
  • for determining the more effective candidate sourcing strategy by evaluating candidates from multiple sources against an ideal profile developed from both behavioral data of incumbent employees and their corresponding performance data.

Since filing the application with the USPTO, PeopleAnswers has demonstrated that using hiring profiles developed from actual on-the-job performance data of both high- and low-performing employees has a dramatic impact on employee selection, helping companies decrease employee turnover and increase employee performance.  More than 50 detailed case studies document the unique predictability created using this patented approach.

“We are very pleased that the USPTO has recognized our unique and differentiated approach for talent assessment,” said Jason Taylor, Ph.D., PeopleAnswers’ chief science officer.  Not only do we use this patented method for superior pre-employment selection, but we also leverage it for succession planning, career pathing, onboarding, as well as coaching and development.”

“Companies spend millions of dollars sourcing candidates online. Having a way to compare the quality of candidates coming from different sources allows businesses to adjust their spend to sources that deliver quality candidates, instead of looking just at volume,” said Mark Ellis, chief technology officer at PeopleAnswers.

The USPTO awarded the formal patent to PeopleAnswers for its unique approach of combining behavioral assessment findings with real-world performance data to create highly predictive talent assessment and candidate sourcing evaluation methods – US Patent Number 8,204,778.

The PeopleAnswers HR solution uses a unique, evidence-based, scientific approach to talent assessments to predict which candidates have the highest probability of superior on-the-job performance. The software has proven successful in reducing turnover as well as increasing employee performance and company revenue across multiple industries and thousands of job types.
