Point Of Sale Solution: Agilence Integrates With LaneHawk To Prevent Significant Loss For Retailer

Agilence, Inc's StoreVision system catches a $1200 loss event with the help of the LaneHawk Visual Scanner to Prevent Bottom-of-the-basket loss.

Agilence, Inc., the leading provider of Event-based Video Analytics (eVA) continues to deliver results through StoreVision. Taking advantage of a recent integration between the Agilence-StoreVision 3.0 [Hawkeye Edition] system and the LaneHawk Visual Scanner to Prevent Bottom-of-the- basket (BOB) solution, the Pathmark stores recently caught a cashier in a $1200 passing scheme. The incident was identified when a store auditor executed a newly defined "BOBclear" query, resulting in a summary of all of the bottom-of-the-basket clear events. Within the single Hawkeye user screen the auditor was able to quickly step through images of each event and located the suspect transaction. With cross examination of the LaneHawk information, investigators were armed with everything they needed to gain a confession from the cashier.

Pedro Ramos, Director of Loss Prevention at Pathmark, stated, "Being able to query on BOB messages within Hawkeye (StoreVision 3.0) is like shooting fish in a barrel. Agilence is consistently making my job more productive by integrating our various data streams within their application that allows our investigators to quickly develop actionable cases."

Agilence recently upgraded Pathmark to its StoreVision 3.0 [Hawkeye] Enterprise Edition. The new 3.0 unleashes powerful data-mining and retail specific auditing tools that allows retail management to accurately reduce shrink at the point-of-sale by capturing instances of theft, pinpointing operational problems and identifying training issues. StoreVision is a robust video & data analytics/relational database-based reporting tool providing an intelligent, comprehensive view of the enterprise, tracking trends, surfacing statistical correlations across multiple sites, and supporting the efficient allocation of often scarce Loss Prevention and Operational resources across the enterprise.

The Hawkeye Edition was built to more easily integrate StoreVision with leading third-party technologies - providing a higher value for its customers. The recent integration with LaneHawk from Evolution Robotics Retail, is a prime example of the increased value to be derived from combining best-of-breed technologies. LaneHawk, a revolutionary BOBloss prevention solution for the retail industry is based on Evolution Robotics Retail's award winning visual pattern recognition (ViPR™) technology. Throughout a rigorous beta-testing, phased release of its LaneHawk software, Evolution Robotics technology sifted through more than 3 million images in grocery-store customer pilots. The LaneHawk software more than proved its ability to identify items that exist BOB and present them to the point-of-sale clerk for inclusion in the transaction.

"We are extremely happy with the results we have seen through our partnering with Agilence," said Jeff Sakaguchi, President and Chief Operating of Evolution Robotics Retail. Mr. Sakaguchi went on to say, "After seeing the granularity of the data they store, the ease-of-use of their query builder, and the speed of the results, I was sold!"

Typical U.S. grocers are losing more than $10 per lane per lane with BOB items leaving the stores unpaid for. LaneHawk significantly reduces the losses per lane per lane, allowing grocery retailers to improve overall corporate profitability by as much as 10%.

Hawkeye is easily installed in any retail point-of-sale environment and is easily implemented into store operations and can be used for training, human resources, accounting/auditing/compliance applications in addition to its core Loss Prevention utility. Agilence has automated many of the customer support functions as well by being able to communicate with its deployed servers on a real-time basis.
