Precision Dynamics' RFID Wristbands Replace Cash With Convenience At Hyland Hills Water World
RFID Wristband System Increases In-Park Spending and Enhances Customer Experience
Precision Dynamics Corporation (PDC), a leader in automatic wristband identification, announces the implementation of its patented Smart Band® RFID (radio frequency identification) Wristbands used as part of a cashless point-of-sale (POS) system at Hyland Hills Water World in Federal Heights, Colorado—the largest community owned and operated outdoor waterpark in the United States.
"The RFID wristbands offer our guests a convenient and hassle-free method of making purchases with a simple wave of their wristband. It's secure, easy to use, and has increased in-park spending," says Bob Owens, Hyland Hills Water World Assistant Manager. "We also gained a positive ROI during our first year and we expect it to be even greater as we continue to streamline the system."
The RFID cashless solution, which has been named "Splash Cash," is fully integrated consisting of Smart Band Wristbands and readers at POS stations throughout the park. The wristbands use Philips passive 13.56MHz RFID chips. Guests can easily load money onto their wristbands using cash, credit, or debit at any POS terminal.
"PDC's RFID Wristbands are secure and easy to use," says Owens. "Having the option of cashless payment has improved customer service, enhancing guests' overall experience at the park. Guests like the added functionality and convenience of the bands."
Owens explains that the guests' credit card account information or personal data is not stored on the band, but that the information is kept on a server for added security. The information on the band is the dollar amount that has been allocated by the guest to use throughout the park, and it can only be read by the readers installed in the park. Data stored on the RFID chip can be encrypted, preventing unauthorized users from accessing the data.
Both guests and venue operators benefit from the use of RFID wristband system. Guests no longer have to carry cash, a wallet, or a purse while at the waterpark. The wristbands are not vulnerable to damage caused by pool chemicals, water, sunlight, or stretching. Shorter lines and faster transactions at all POS locations is another added advantage.
Park operators benefit from increased per cap spending and breakage—unspent credit left on the wristbands after guests leave the park. The system can also gather customer and purchase data which is valuable for targeted marketing and promotional purposes.
