Extensive research has been conducted by TPG’s design staff and software developers to optimize the print quality of graphics on TPG’s ColorPOS printers. This paper shares this experience with you to help you produce the best quality graphics to print on ColorPOS Two-Color Receipt Printers. This paper will be updated periodically to share the latest insight concerning this topic with TPG’s partners/customers.

Overview

  • Graphic images that are processed by a computer can be divided into two categories: either vector images or pixel-based images.
  • Vector-based images use mathematical equations called “Bezier Curves” to describe their shape and fill.
  • Pixel-based images use a series of squares to compose the image.
  • The primary difference between these two formats is that vector graphics are resolution-independent and pixel-based images are resolution dependent.
  • Pixel-based images cannot be re-sized without losing information/ resolution.
