Receipt Storage: Mercury Payment Systems Releases Electronic Receipt Capture For Microsoft RMS

Mercury Payment Systems, an integrated payment processing company, announces the release of a customized technology solution for Microsoft RMS point-of-sale (POS) that facilitates electronic receipt storage, retrieval, and printing.

Designed to aid in handling chargebacks, the new receipt generation application stores cardholder signatures, and store and transaction details. Merchants no longer need to store paper copies because receipts are saved electronically, reducing ink and paper costs.

Mercury proactively developed the solution because chargeback resolution was difficult for merchants when receipt information was not correctly formatted in the POS.

"Electronic storage makes responding to a chargeback inquiry easier. Merchants simply search for and print a copy of the stored receipt, which is properly formatted for use in a retrieval request," said Shelley Plomske, Mercury Vice President of Technical Services. "Plus, the ability to generate receipts onsite, or from company headquarters, allows multiple location-merchants to respond quickly to chargeback/retrieval requests."

No extra software is needed in order for merchants to benefit from the new receipt capture tool. The one-click set up automatically allows multiple applications to be simultaneously added, including credit and MercuryGift™ card, the EDC server, and the receipt generation tool.

"Previous applications were time consuming and prone to errors because they uploaded data to hosted servers," said Plomske. "Mercury's tool, currently the only custom receipt generation application for Microsoft RMS, quickly stores information locally. This feature saves merchants time and worry that data may not have loaded properly."

Mercury's solution is compatible with all supported signature capture devices and printers. Merchants receive free, 24/7, support from Mercury's specialized Microsoft RMS team.

"By adding an electronic receipt solution to the Microsoft RMS feature set, resellers also benefit by offering a valuable technology service that will increase customer satisfaction and can be leveraged to close more deals," said Matt Taylor, Mercury's Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
