Reliable POS Hardware Yields Customer Satisfaction

By Erin Harris, Integrated Solutions For Retailers magazine

When Tulsa, OK-based grocer Warehouse Market saw its POS hardware reach the end of its life cycle, Jana Mercer, the IT director there, had an important decision to make regarding replacement hardware. Mercer needed to find replacement hardware (e.g. touch screens, hard drives, scanner scales) to drive the grocer's existing POS software from LOC Software. In addition, the equipment in all 16 Warehouse Market locations was running Windows 2000. The hardware wouldn't support a newer operating system, and Microsoft ended support for Windows 2000 in July of 2010. Combined with PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance concerns, Mercer began an in-depth search for new POS hardware.
