Loss prevention is a big issue for any retailer, but when you are Australia’s largest retailer, it can really affect the bottom line. With over 188,000 team members, revenue of over A$54B, and several thousand locations across brands, this is the case for Woolworths. As Australia’s largest grocer, among its many other retail ventures including petrol, liquor, and general merchandising, the potential for loss is staggering, as is the potential gain from controlling losses. Darin Crofts, the loss prevention (LP) manager for special projects at Woolworths, and the LP team needed something more than just static cameras with digital DVRs to help control losses at the retailer.
