Tampa, Fla. (July 27, 2009) — Retail Process Engineering (RPE), a leading retail consulting services provider, announced today the implementation completion and successful go live of JDA Software's Merchandise Management System (MMS®) and point solutions at Modell's Sporting Goods. The integrated merchandising and warehouse management system will drive inventory optimization and streamline processes for the 143-store chain.
In addition to MMS, JDA Retail IDEAS®, Arthur® Allocation and E3™ Advanced Warehouse Replenishment (AWR) and Advanced Store Replenishment (ASR) were implemented. All systems integrated to a highly automated warehouse material handling system.
"We needed an end-to-end, robust merchandise management solution that offered core merchandising, warehousing and financial capabilities and could enhance inventory management efficiencies," said Hans Kantor, vice president IT, Modell's Sporting Goods.
In response to a company initiative to gain more efficient merchandise operations, Modell's Sporting Goods turned to RPE, a leading retail consultant providing implementation, integration, modification, business process re-engineering, system upgrades and systems management services.
"We selected RPE due to their extensive knowledge of the JDA suite of products and reputation for successful implementations," said Mitchell Modell, CEO, Modell's Sporting Goods.
The RPE project team, under the direction of Bob Gould, worked closely with the internal staff at Modell's Sporting Goods lead by Kantor and Werner Danielson, chief project officer. Modell's successfully replaced its entire legacy environment with the exception of the point of sale system. "This degree of change is seldom tackled and even less frequently successfully accomplished," said Kantor.
"Modell's required a proven and reliable technology platform that could be integrated with other point solutions to reduce inventory, creating more accurate and profitable control in an increasingly competitive retail environment with evolving consumer demands," said Cliff Epstein, president, RPE.
