Retail Supply Chain: Wincor Nixdorf And FedEx Strike Partnership To Form Unprecedented Service Supply Organization
Wincor Nixdorf, one of the world's leading providers of total IT solutions for the retail and banking industries, recently announced an inventive strategic partnership with FedEx Global Supply Chain Services to ensure the Wincor Nixdorf Service Division continues to set reliability standards equal to its globally recognized products.
Through this partnership, Wincor Nixdorf strengthens its ability to repair an ATM or POS system at a moment's notice by utilizing the extensive network of 24-hour FedEx Kinko's Office and Print Centers throughout the country. Wincor Nixdorf will maintain parts inventories at select FedEx Kinko's locations, thereby establishing forward stocking outlets in all Wincor Nixdorf service areas.
With this network in place, once a service need is identified, a Wincor Nixdorf service technician simply contacts the closest FedEx Kinko's location, and the needed part can either be picked up or sent via messenger, greatly minimizing service down time and reducing the amount of time spent on needed repairs. This unmatched level of efficiency created by the Wincor Nixdorf and FedEx partnership further positions Wincor Nixdorf's growing service organization at the forefront of the banking and retail industries.
Wincor Nixdorf is among the top three providers of IT solutions for both the banking and retail industries worldwide. The company provides ATMs, software and related products to 18 of the world's 25 leading banks; as well as point of sale (POS) systems and software to 17 of the world's top 25 retailers. The company's extensive portfolio is aimed at reducing the cost and complexity of business processes while consistently identifying ways to improve customer service. To that end, Wincor employs a global, world-class service organization that supports its products and services by providing general upkeep and maintenance on a daily basis.
Additionally, under this innovative agreement, the extensive parts inventory of Wincor Nixdorf's U.S. service organization will be moved from the company's Austin headquarters and centrally warehoused at FedEx's main stocking location in Memphis, Tenn. The relocation is designed to simplify the process of rapidly shipping replacement parts to Wincor Nixdorf service territories throughout the country.
FedEx's Critical Inventory Logistics integrates FedEx shipping with its network of digitally connected stocking locations for an end-to-end solution with complete visibility. The solution provides the infrastructure and automation needed that will allow Wincor Nixdorf to reduce inventory carrying costs for unnecessary parts and to reduce transportation costs associated with critical shipping of parts due to poor stock visibility. Most importantly, the FedEx solution puts the Wincor Nixdorf sales team in a stronger position to continue attracting industry-leading U.S. clients that consider a comprehensive service supply chain a minimum requirement for doing business.
"The FedEx system allows for timely, reliable access to Wincor Nixdorf parts even in time-critical situations, which further solidifies our position as the best possible service provider for our customers," said Uli Seemann, vice president of Wincor Nixdorf Services Division. "This partnership supports us in extending our customer base and gives us room for further development within our service organization, which is critical to the success of our clients."
This service initiative is the logical next step in the ongoing growth of the Wincor Nixdorf Services Division, which reaches all U.S. regions where the company has banking and retail customers.
Based on this partnership, Wincor Nixdorf now has a cost effective solution with real-time visibility to all locations throughout the United States that stock a needed part. Additional advantages include automated delivery time and cost estimates for transportation from each location, as well as robust command-and-control features so technicians can count on rapid delivery of repair parts when needed.
Other customer benefits of FedEx Critical Inventory Logistics include:
- A dedicated web site on www.fedex.com allowing customers to place orders, manage inventory and obtain order and shipment status.
- Full customer support and single point of contact 24 hours a day, seven days a week from the dedicated FedEx Critical Inventory Logistics customer center.
- Same-day fulfillment and extended order times are provided and the network can be utilized to eliminate the need for regional warehouses.
- Customers are given real-time, next flight out and courier visibility, event notification, monitoring, recovery and proof of delivery.
