Reva Systems' Enterprise RFID Management Solution Brings Multi-Site RFID Operations Into The Mainstream

Reva Systems, the leading RFID network infrastructure provider, recently announced that METRO Group is utilizing the newly enhanced Reva Management System (RMS) for enterprise RFID device and process management. Reva TAP appliances are installed at each RFID-enabled facility to provide optimal RFID performance and generate accurate, actionable data for application consumption. The RMS components deliver multi-site enterprise RFID management capabilities that corporations like METRO Group require for broad adoption and sustained RFID processes.

METRO Group deployed Reva TAPs for the production operation of its RFID network infrastructure at 180 stores and distribution centers in Germany during the first phase of its RFID Rollout. The second phase currently being implemented includes an additional 200 stores. METRO Group's implementation is the largest standards-based UHF RFID deployment in Europe, yet the entire RFID operation can me managed via a single interface at MGI METRO Group Information Technology headquarters in Düsseldorf. By leveraging the simple configuration, exception alerting and scripting automation provided by Reva's RMS, the company is able to cost effectively and efficiently manage the RFID devices deployed at all of their sites.

The original Reva Management Console (RMC) was introduced in 2005 and is still used by Reva customers as the basic method for managing modest populations of Reva TAPs. Today's enhanced Reva Management System includes components for multi-site monitoring and management; it adds scripting tools for automating administrative tasks, easy to use single-site configuration capabilities, and centralized reader firmware upgrade functionality for enterprise-wide implementations of RFID readers and devices from multiple vendors.

During a recent webinar broadcasting information on METRO Group's RFID rollout progress Dr. Gerd Wolfram, managing director of MGI METRO Group Information Technology, stated, "with Reva's Management System, our operations at the headquarters have a standard method to manage remote field infrastructure including TAPs and readers. We use monitoring and alert capabilities, and all of the technology works well together to give us a reliable and standard platform for using RFID in our business processes."

"As companies like Metro move from pilot to production rollouts they require monitoring and management capabilities that allow a small group of central IT professionals to manage RFID operations in remote locations world wide,"said Ashley

Stephenson, chairman of Reva Systems. "Customers place great value on the graphical configuration and monitoring capabilities of our original RMC application, so the RMS components leverage that functionality with new multi-site tools that allow enterprises to manage their RFID infrastructure efficiently and cost effectively no matter how many sites they operate."
