Selecting The Right Payment Architecture For Omnichannel Engagement

For retailers, the payment process is a critical part of their interaction with the shopper — and the focal point of the shopper’s in-store omnichannel experience. It touches everything from concerns over card security and shopper privacy, to the length of the checkout line.

When evaluating the solutions involved in the payment process, retailers are mostly concerned with issues such as PCI compliance, P2PE, tokenization, and EMV readiness. Granted, these are important considerations — and any vendor or service provider involved in the payment process should meet these standards. However, the overall payment architecture is often the primary — and frequently overlooked — factor determining the cost and complexity of embracing the latest security enhancements.
