H. David Roberts, corporate manager of FP&A (financial planning and analysis) at Under Armour, describes the company's explosive growth circa 1996 as both a blessing and a curse. Indeed,Under Armour generates $856M a year and has become synonymous with athletic and performance apparel. "We experienced an incredible demand in the marketplace for our compression t-shirt products," says Roberts. "As we began to explore new products, the demand completely outpaced our ability to build the infrastructure we had in place to support our growth." Therefore, Under Armour needed an automated solution to manage growth as well as improve its financial analysis and forecast visibility.
