Case Study: IP Network Video Curbs After-Hours Theft

Goodwill Industries International, the nation's leading nonprofit workforce organization, enhances the dignity and quality of life of individuals, families, and communities by eliminating barriers to opportunity and helping people in need reach their fullest potential through the power of work. Last year, more than 66 million people donated to Goodwill. Goodwill accepts new or gently used items — like clothing, appliances, electronics, and furniture — and sells them in their well-known Goodwill retail stores. For about two years, Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina experienced after-hours thefts of donations left at 6 of the company's 21 outdoor, drive-through donation centers. Goodwill's analog video cameras were incapable of recording clear footage to assist Brad Kyzer, loss prevention specialist at Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina, with evidence to provide to local authorities. Kyzer sought to find a new solution to stop theft, increase morale, and growing safety concerns.
