While Kmart Australia has no official ties to the Kmart we know in the United States, the two retailers do have a few things in common. They sell similar discount merchandise, their brand identities are roughly the same, and they're both continually refining their approaches to sourcing new products for their shelves.
Since 2007, Kmart Australia has been part of the $35B Wesfarmers conglomerate. Its sourcing division, Coles Group Asia, is based in Hong Kong and is managed by Michael Fagan, international program manager, global sourcing.
