With the explosion of smartphones and tablets, consumers have become more connected not only to each other, but also to their favorite brands and products. From learning about the latest television’s cutting-edge features to checking if a sweater comes in a certain color, it’s easy for consumers to access information virtually anytime, anywhere. The connected consumer has caused not only a shift in focus from traditional brick-and-mortar establishments to digital, online channels, but also a shift in power. Today, consumers are often more informed than store employees and have become accustomed to around-the-clock access to information. With more details than ever before at their fingertips, they are less patient and more apt to move on if their needs are not immediately met.
