TAGSYS Joins VICS Item-Level RFID Initiative
Company joins industry leaders in promoting the use of item-level RFID in the retail supply chain
TAGSYS, the leading provider of item-level RFID infrastructure, today announced it has joined the VICS Item Level RFID Initiative (VILRI), which advocates for the use of EPC-enabled RFID in the retail supply chain. TAGSYS joins leading technology vendors, brand owners, manufacturers, and industry trade associations in supporting the initiative.
VILRI, which is administered by the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions (VICS) Association, is dedicated to quantifying the benefits of item-level RFID and exploring how the technology can improve business processes in the retail value chain.
Because TAGSYS provides a complete, end-to-end, scalable RFID solution for retailers, the company will contribute both technical and business process knowledge to the VLRI subcommittees in which it will participate. By supporting the VILRI, TAGSYS will also have opportunities to educate potential customers on the value of emerging RFID applications in the retail sector and have access to a new level of visibility into trends in other retail segments.
"TAGSYS is focused on providing complete RFID-based solutions to the apparel and footwear supply chain, and we recognize the importance and value of the VICS Item Level RFID Initiative in educating the market and driving the adoption of this technology in that sector," said Douglas Karp, TAGSYS VP of North American Operations. "By participating in the VILRI, we further enhance our efforts in promoting item-level RFID adoption in the retail sector, while simultaneously gaining new market insight that will help us develop solutions to better meet the needs of our customers."
TAGSYS has participated in a number of large-scale, item-level RFID deployments around the globe, including an installation for French sportswear retailer Serge Blanco that tracks garments throughout the supply chain to the point of sale.
"We are pleased that TAGSYS has chosen to participate in VILRI, and look forward to incorporating the experience and knowledge they have gained in the apparel and retail markets into our own efforts to promote item-level RFID use," said Joseph Andraski, VICS President & CEO.
