Data collection is a market often defined by mobility. In some cases, it is street teams interviewing consumers, and in others it could be an enterprise data collection application in a warehouse environment. Like many markets, data collection is done through a mix of technologies from pen and paper to handheld computers to laptops. Often, data is collected in the field and later entered/uploaded to a central system. But as the ability to accumulate and share data becomes a differentiating factor for businesses, the technology they use to accomplish these tasks becomes critical.
