The Loss Prevention Foundation Announces New Committee Members

On April 7, 2009, The Loss Prevention Foundation's Executive Committee confirmed four new members to its Academic Committee. Individuals were chosen to participate on the committee based on their academic credentials as well as their interest in contributing to the advancement of the retail loss prevention community. The following individuals have accepted the nomination to serve on The Foundation's Academic Committee:

Marcus Felson, PhD - Rutgers University

Brian R. Johnson, PhD - Grand Valley State University

Christopher A. Walker, PhD - Northeastern University

Patrick D. Walsh, PhD - Loyola University

Other distinguished committee members are as follows:

Bob Hanson, Professor - Northern Michigan University

Read Hayes, PhD - University of Florida

Richard Hill - University of Houston

Richard C. Hollinger, PhD - University of Florida

According to The Foundation's Chairman, Frank Johns, Senior Vice President Stores, Audit, Ethics, Compliance, and Loss Protection for A.C. Moore, "It is very gratifying to have so many highly qualified individuals from the academic community support the Foundation's efforts. We believe that the academic community and these individuals in particular will play a key role in the Foundations success in the years to come."

The Loss Prevention Foundation was founded in 2006, by industry leading professionals to serve the loss prevention industry. The mission is to advance the loss prevention profession by providing relevant, convenient, and challenging educational resources to include the LPQ & LPC certification programs and a professional membership program. "We are extremely excited about adding such quintessential academicians to our committee. Their passion and support for our mission will only enhance the efforts of our other committee members. We are fortunate to have such academic leadership", said Gene Smith, the Foundation's President.

The role of the committee is to act as academic advisors to The Loss Prevention Foundation, developing strategies on how LPF can complement higher education, reviewing the certification coursework content and advising the LP Foundation staff on its marketing & outreach plans for two (2) and four (4) year college students.
