The Old Mill Square Uses Cash Register Express And Metrologic Scanners To Speed Checkout

Source: PC America

The Old Mill Square in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is comprised of eight retail and dining locations, from the Old Mill General Store which has been in operation since 1830, to the Old Mill Bakery Café which opened in September of 2003. Our locations vary in needs of point of sale registers, but the flexibility of the PC America Cash Register Express and Restaurant Pro Express point of sale systems allow us to utilize one system, one file server and one database to satisfy the needs of our restaurants, merchandise retail and food retail operations.

The high volume of transactions needed to service our customers would not be attainable without the use of Metrologic's Voyager MS9520 Laser Barcode Scanner. Pigeon River Pottery manufactures and sells over 2,000 items in a variety of styles and colors and the Voyager scanners allow us to quickly ring up the sales and accurately track inventory usage. Its versatility allows for both handheld as well as hands free scanning. The Old Mill Candy Kitchen also produces and packages numerous candies in a variety of sizes and these scanners speed the checkout process immensely. The Voyager has proven to be almost bulletproof, able to withstand the high volume and abuse of day-to-day operations and operators.

The service and programming departments at PC America have been extremely helpful and responsive to our needs. They continually upgrade the entire system and are very receptive to input from the users with regard to functions included in these upgrades. We have been very satisfied with the level of expertise and professionalism in our dealings with PC America. We would recommend them and the Metrologic scanners to anyone in need of a stand alone or multi-unit system.
