As we see unemployment slowly beginning to settle down, and realizing what that often means to retailers in terms of increases in employee theft, we became curious about the origin of the term "steal you blind." We didn't learn much except that it originated in the early 1900s, and it supposedly means that the robber will take everything you have, including your eyeballs. In all honesty, that phrase should not apply to employee theft. But, it is a good reminder of the need to be watchful and protect the store's assets.
