Tyco Electronics Expands The Portfolio Of Elo TouchSystems Open-Frame, High Performance LCD Touchmonitors
Tyco Electronics' Elo TouchSystems now combines high-performance LCD panels with the industry's leading touch technologies to create a new family of large-screen, wide-aspect open-frame LCD touchmonitors. The 2039L, 2239L, 2639L and 3239L LCD open-frame touchmonitors ranging in size from 20" through 32" are designed specifically for use in public venues, such as gaming/amusement, point-of-information kiosks, interactive digital-signage displays and retail self-service. They offer viewing angles from 160 degrees to 178 degrees, supplemented by brightness as high as 500 nits. The new large-screen, wide-aspect displays include a choice of the industry-leading Elo TouchSystems touch technologies, such as IntelliTouch surface acoustic wave, surface capacitive and the innovative Acoustic Pulse Recognition (APR). Elo's touch technologies provide stable, durable touch options that are resistant to scratches and liquids, and can be activated in a variety of ways.
Bigger, Wider and Brighter
According to Elo TouchSystems' product manager Brian Shannon, large, bright screens with wide-viewing angles give developers the ability to design applications that captivate the user's attention. "Elo TouchSystems open-frame touchmonitors have earned a reputation for high quality and performance," says Shannon. "We're not only a world leader in touch technology, but one of the world's largest producers of touchmonitors. And we've put that know-how behind the design and manufacture of our new family of large, wide-aspect touchmonitors. Our APR and IntelliTouch touch technologies offer optimal light transmission to the user -- up to 92 percent. For example," Shannon adds, "our new 2039L 20-inch touchmonitor furnishes a 178 x 178-degree wide viewing angle and 500 nits typical brightness.
Designed for Touch
Shannon also explains that Elo designs and manufactures open-frame touchmonitors for the specific demands of public venues. "In addition, Elo's touchmonitors are designed for touch from the ground up. It's not added as an afterthought" he confirms. The new family of open-frame touchmonitors benefits from a comprehensive range of features that includes analog and digital interfaces, multi-lingual on-screen display (OSD), flexible mounting options, and worldwide compliance. The open-frame chassis features an integrated, precision mini-bezel with a watertight seal.
A Migratory Path
By including a choice of touch technologies within the same form factor, Elo offers long-time users of surface- capacitive touch technology an opportunity to expand their existing supplier base. It also offers more choices by providing a possible migration path to alternative touch technologies such as IntelliTouch and APR, which offer many advantages, including improved optical characteristics, accuracy, and reliability. APR also has the added advantage of palm rejection. "A move to Elo makes sense," says Brian Shannon. "After all, we invented touch technology over 35 years ago and we've been consistently innovating and improving our designs ever since."
