Exception reporting and closed circuit television systems have become standard tools for loss prevention experts. In fact, both tools are considered mature and have been in existence for many years. The latest survey from the University of Florida shows the following deployment percentages in retail:

• CCTV: 95%
• Exception Reporting: 87%

However, the same report shows that shrink remains constant, and given the current economic turbulence and recession, shrink percentages are expected to spike significantly.

These tools, functioning as separate and disparate entities can only identify and deliver a small amount of shrink reduction.
