Wireless And Batteryless Electric Display Taps Into Hidden Energy Source
DramaView Technology Inc. announced today that it is developing an RFID controlled and powered display system that uses radio frequency signals and energy as its control and power source for a wide range applications.
According to Ray M. Alden, Marketing, DramaView's RFID controlled and powered displays can be nearly as thin as a sheet of paper and produced cheaply. "Our RFID based displays operate wirelessly and batterylessly and have wide applications in industrial, commercial, retail, logistics, and consumer products." The RFID controlled and powered displays are patent pending and DramaView is developing an IP portfolio to cover them with the objective of capturing a large global market for displays that are wireless, batteryless, thin, and cheap to produce.
Such displays also complement DramaView's hand writeable RFID readable user input devices when used in real time, they can display the meaning that an RFID reader and associated system has assigned to a user's written input. Thus using the RFID display together with the hand writeable user input system enables the user to review their input and thereby ensure nearly 100% accuracy.
Practical applications are limited only by the imagination of those in industry who will find countless reasons why it makes sense to place RFID controlled and powered displays on numerous things for displaying real-time information from a central processor system. According to Alden, "we can envision whole dashboards of automobiles being covered by one large stick on display that has no wires and displays a wide range of real-time information. Such an application reduces weight and complexity of current systems dramatically. More obvious applications include consumer product packaging where alphanumeric information such as pricing and graphical information such as images that can be displayed and changed in real-time." DramaView says the RFID based displays will be cheap enough to be disposable.
DramaView's RFID division is in start up mode and is in discussions with at least two key RFID industry stakeholders. According to Alden, "DramaView has been quietly developing an intellectual property portfolio encompassing a range of novel RFID technologies and associated processes, and is now selectively courting partners best positioned to capture large global markets protected by our growing intellectual property portfolio."
DramaView is a start up company headquartered in Raleigh, NC, USA.
