World's Largest Duty-Free Travel Retailer Selects Transactionware Enterprise As Next-Generation POS Platform

Triversity Inc., the leader in customer-centric retail solutions that enhance the Customer Experience and improve operating efficiencies, today announced that DFS Group Ltd. has selected Transactionware Enterprise as its next-generation point-of-sale (POS) platform.

DFS Group is the world's largest duty-free retailer for international travelers. The company operates approximately 200 stores throughout North America, Asia and the Pacific Basin, including 12 DFS Galleria flagship stores in select resorts and major cities, as well as duty-free stores in leading hotels and major international airports.

DFS chose Transactionware Enterprise as the foundation for a single POS platform and Store Enterprise platform that fully integrates with IBM's J2EE middleware stack - IBM WebSphere Application Server 5.0, IBM WebSphere MQ, and IBM DB2 Universal Database. The project will begin with implementation at two airport locations and a new high-end Galleria store in Okinawa, Japan with more than 100 POS, customer service and manager workstations.

Cost savings and flexibility, along with seamless integration to IBM middleware, were key factors in DFS Group's selection of Transactionware Enterprise. By replacing multiple legacy POS platforms, Transactionware Enterprise will immediately help drive down DFS Group's Total Cost of Ownership for store and enterprise systems. As a true J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) solution, Transactionware Enterprise matches DFS Group's strategy of a single J2EE enterprise architecture. And Transactionware Enterprise's flexible architecture can be easily adapted to DFS Group's unique business requirements, which include internationalization, real-time connectivity with enterprise applications, and the ability to mix duty-free and duty-paid purchases within the same physical store environment.

"DFS and Triversity share the same technology vision of a single, integrated platform throughout the enterprise, and the implementation of Transactionware Enterprise will help DFS achieve this at store locations around the world," said Rick Hamilton, Chief Information Officer for DFS Group Ltd. "Triversity's track record of successful POS implementations, including the Asia-Pacific region, makes them an ideal strategic partner for next-generation point of sale."

"DFS is the category leader in international travel retail, and Triversity's Transactionware Enterprise provides a scalable, flexible J2EE platform that will support DFS' continued global expansion," said David Thomas, president and CEO of Triversity Inc. "In addition, Triversity will work with DFS to provide tools and service that allow DFS to modify and self-support Transactionware Enterprise, providing an agile, flexible platform that quickly adapts to changing business requirements."

Triversity's Transactionware Enterprise is the most cost-effective, easily deployed J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) solution available today for POS and Point-of-Interaction applications in the retail enterprise. Transactionware Enterprise is the first and only Java POS solution designed from the ground up to harness the power of J2EE. Its highly scalable, open architecture allows retailers to deploy solutions ranging from true thin-client to thick-client systems, on up to massively scalable enterprise server environments that handle billions of transactions per year.
