Major retailer partners with Coupons.com to help customers save more money

Digital coupons are fast becoming a customer expectation and retailers who haven’t yet deployed a system of mobile redemption risk losing a large chunk of their business. Digital coupons are fast gaining prominence among millennials mainly due to the proliferation of smartphones and the underpinning retail technology – almost every retail brand today has a mobile app to reach out to customers through their smartphones.

Now, Dollar General, partnered with Coupons.com, has announced the successful rollout of its new DG Digital Coupons program to its more than 11,300 stores across the 40 states the retailer serves.

“The DG Digital Coupon program provides our customers with an easy-to-use and convenient platform to use digital coupons toward our everyday low prices, helping them get the products they need at prices they want,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s Chief Operating Officer. “Understanding our shopper is utilizing digital and online technology to help save money, the completion of this project not only demonstrates our ability to deliver everyday value and affordable options to our customers, but also our commitment to help our customers save time and money, every day.”

To use the DG Digital Coupon Program, customers may sign up either online or in stores using a numeric identification number, which is typically their telephone number. After signing up, customers can select the most relevant coupons to be added to their profile and the discounts are then applied to a customer’s purchase at checkout when they purchase eligible purchases, including leading national brands and Dollar General’s store brand products.

“We are thrilled that Dollar General has chosen to work with Coupons.com,” said Steven Boal, president and CEO of Coupons.com. “Our technology will deliver Dollar General shoppers highly relevant coupons in ways that many of today’s shoppers now want them – via their phones. The whole experience makes saving money easier than ever.”

The introduction of smart apps like iPhone’s Passbook, NFC enabled payments, and loyalty gift coupon apps have made it convenient for retailers to push targeted offers directly into customers’ smartphones. Digital coupons can help give your business more market visibility and increase in-store footfalls and website conversions.

Leading retailers like Kroger, Safeway, and Target have been successful in launching significant digital coupon programs. Future-ready retailers are deploying advanced tools and technologies to integrate digital couponing into their in-store merchandising and marketing programs. Now Dollar General has entered the fray as well.
