Goodwill Launches Mobile App
By Matt Pillar, chief editor
Great results come early as Goodwill launches its first mobile application, a store locator inspired by the company’s mission.
As tech-adoption decisions go, the closer IT decision makers can align tech initiatives to the company’s core goals — or better, to the company’s very mission statement — the more likely they are to become company heroes. Think about it: Nobody gets any glory for buying pole displays. Launch a mobile application that drives a measurable increase in store traffic and sales, though, and you might find your picture on the Employee of the Month bulletin board.
Arlene McCrehan, senior director of online media at Goodwill Industries International, might be in line to win that coveted bulletin board position. She’s been a part of the team responsible for the launch of a store locator application, which only three months after its release on Google Play and The App Store — and with no outbound promotion whatsoever — has already been downloaded nearly 10,000 times.
