To date, small to midsized retailers (SMRs) have largely escaped the hawkish eye of the PCI SSC (Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council), which has had its hands full with a rash of high-profile and record-breaking hacks on Tier 1 retailers. Here, Celerant Technology Corp. CEO Ian Goldman suggests that while SMRs have a responsibility to secure the POS, they could revolt if the Council plays too heavy a hand.
